We’ve made it to Thanksgiving, which means a slate of three big games today. Two of them are divisional matchups, while the middle game is essentially an elimination battle between two teams on the periphery of the playoffs. Below is a preview of the big games, and the rest of the Week 13 picks.
Green Bay Packers (7-3-1) at Detroit Lions (7-4)
This is the second meeting between the division rivals, both of whom are chasing the Bears. The Packers beat the Lions to open the season, now the Lions would like to flip the script on Thanksgiving. That creates a fun matchup.
For the Packers, Jordan Love is a QB2. In the backfield, Josh Jacobs is a go this game. He’s an RB2 for me. If not, I like Emanuel Wilson as a start. In the passing game, it’s hit-or-miss. I think Romeo Doubs and Christian Watson are the safest, neither is more than a Flex option.
For the Lions, Jared Goff is better at home. He’s a QB2 with upside. Jahmyr Gibbs is an RB1, while Amon-Ra St. Brown is a WR1. David Montgomery hasn’t been getting the volume and Jameson Williams is hit-or-miss. Either is a flex option, but neither is a lock for lineup production.
Kansas City Chiefs (6-5) at Dallas Cowboys (5-5-1)
This is an interesting matchup. Both teams won in Week 12 in dramatic fashion. The Chiefs beat the Colts in overtime, while the Cowboys beat the Eagles after falling behind by 21 points. Both are still clinging to the playoff picture, but neither can afford another loss.
For the Chiefs, Patrick Mahomes is a QB1 this week. In the backfield, Kareem Hunt is the best option. He’s a flex option for me. In the passing game, I like Rashee Rice as a WR1. I think Xavier Worthy is a flex option, while Travis Kelce is a low-end TE1.
For the Cowboys, Dak Prescott has been hot. He’s a QB1 for me. Javonte Williams is the best option in the backfield, coming in as an RB2. In the passing game, George Pickens has been the best of late. He’s a WR1 for me. CeeDee Lamb also has WR1 upside, but he’s more of a high-end WR2 in this one. I also like Jake Ferguson at tight end.
This could be a high-scoring affair.
Cincinnati Bengals (3-8) at Baltimore Ravens (6-5)
The Ravens started 1-5 on the season. After five straight wins, they are now back in first place in the AFC North. This one could be more interesting as Joe Burrow seems to be on track to return for the Bengals, though their playoff run is over.
For the Bengals, I like Burrow as a low-end QB1. The Ravens’ defense hasn’t been incredible, and I think Burrow is ready to go. Chase Brown leads the backfield and is an RB2. In the passing game, Tee Higgins is out with a concussion. But Ja’Marr Chase is back from suspension, and likely ready to soar. He’s a WR1 for me.
For the Ravens, Lamar Jackson has struggled of late. He hasn’t put up big passing numbers and he hasn’t been a factor on the ground. But it’s a nice matchup. Right now, he’s a QB2 with upside. Derrick Henry has been going strong and carrying the load on the ground. He’s an RB2. In the passing game, I like Zay Flowers the best. He’s a WR2 for me in this matchup. It’s hard to trust the other receivers and tight ends to get consistent volume, though Mark Andrews would be the only other option I’d consider starting.
