Week 10 of the NFL Season got under way Thursday in Denver. With four more teams on a bye, that leaves 12 games on Sunday including a return to international games. Below are the five games on the Sunday slate that I’m most excited to see.
International Game:
Atlanta Falcons (3-5) at Indianapolis Colts (7-2)
About: Both these teams are coming off tough losses in Week 9. And both are now in Germany for the next phase in the NFL’s International series. The Falcons are up against it at 3-5, desperate for a win to remain in the playoff race. The Colts, meanwhile, are still in the driver’s seat in the AFC, but there is a crowd pressing against them. This should be fun.
Early Games:
New England Patriots (7-2) at Tampa Bay Buccaneers (6-2)
About: This is a battle of first-place teams. The Patriots have won six straight and remain on top in a tight AFC East race. The Buccaneers, meanwhile, are still atop the NFC South, and among the leaders in the NFC, despite a slew of injuries. Fresh off a bye, hopefully the Buccaneers have some health restored. This is a huge matchup for both teams.
Jacksonville Jaguars (5-3) at Houston Texans (3-5)
About: This is a huge matchup in the AFC South. Both teams are still chasing the Indianapolis Colts, but both have designs on the playoffs. The Jaguars are beat up, but still clinging to the No. 7 seed. The Texans have struggled with injuries and inefficiency. After a loss to the Broncos in Week 9, the Texans are desperate to get back on track and need a win against the Jaguars to do it.
Late Games:
Los Angeles Rams (6-2) at San Francisco 49ers (5-3)
About: The race in the NFC West is fierce, with these two chasing the red-hot Seahawks. The 49ers have struggled with injuries all season, but Christian McCaffrey and Mac Jones have kept them going in the playoff race. The Rams, meanwhile, have used a tough passing game to remain among the best teams in the NFL. Both division rivals need a win, but only one can get it.
Sunday Night Football:
Pittsburgh Steelers (5-3) at Los Angeles Chargers (6-3)
About: The Chargers started hot but suffered a slew of injuries. Still, at 6-3, they’re in the thick of the playoff race. The Steelers also started hot, but now they’re getting pressed by the Ravens, who are coming on. The Steelers pulled off a big win in Week 9 and are looking for more in Los Angeles Sunday night.
