The NFL Season is finally here. We got the opening night game yesterday, and we have the Sao Paolo game tonight. But Sunday will be the crux of the slate. Below are the five games on the Sunday slate that I’m most excited to see.
Sunday Early Games:
Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs. Atlanta Falcons
About: There’s nothing like a divisional game to kick things off. I also think that these will be two of the more interesting offenses in the league, particularly in the NFC. I like the Buccaneers to put up points, but we saw that with Michael Penix, Jr., the Falcons could put up points, too. At home on opening day, I think we’ll see some fun fireworks in this one.
Las Vegas Raiders vs. New England Patriots
About: This is the debut for Ashton Jeanty and Pete Carroll as well as Mike Vrabel as the Patriots coach. It could be one of the more fun games of the early window, too. I like the potential in some of the Raiders’ stars, like Jeanty and Brock Bowers. I’m also bullish on the Patriots having a bounce back year. I like Drake Maye with Josh McDaniels here, too. This should be a fun game.
Sunday Late Games:
San Francisco 49ers vs. Seattle Seahawks
About: Neither of these teams made the playoffs in 2024, but I think both could in 2025. The 49ers are looking for a bounce back after a rough 2024 and even rougher injury luck. The Seahawks, meanwhile, have re-made their offense with Sam Darnold. But it’s the defense for both teams that could be the most worth watching. It’s a divisional game with a lot of stakes, and that should be fun.
Detroit Lions vs. Green Bay Packers
About: This is a divisional matchup as well. This one among teams who were playoff teams in 2024 and could be favorites in 2025. The Lions offense and defense are under new coordinators, but the roster is still loaded. The Packers have some good talent and just acquired Micah Parsons. This could be one of the best games of Week 1.
Sunday Night Football:
Baltimore Ravens vs. Buffalo Bills
About: This is a re-match of the Divisional Round playoff game that was one of the best of the post-season. Both these teams have designs on competing for a Super Bowl, and both want to get off to a good start. This is the best matchup of Week 1.
