The 2025 NFL Season is here. To get you ready for the action, we’ll be previewing each of the 32 NFL Teams as well as offering predictions for year-end award winners and playoff participants. Check back here each day through September 3 for another installment of the 2025 NFL Preview series.
As we bring this series in for a close, it’s time to look at potential award winners. Below are my predictions in four categories. These are awards that get handed out at NFL Honors based on the regular season. We’ll see how well I do come January!
NFL MVP: Joe Burrow, QB, Cincinnati Bengals
About: The MVP award is typically a quarterback award. While it can go to the quarterback of the top contender, in recent years it’s gone to a highly seeded team that isn’t the favorite entering the playoffs. That’s how I feel about Burrow. I like his Bengals in 2025, but I don’t see them as the No. 1 seed. I do think that Burrow is going to have a spectacular season because the Bengals will have to throw the ball and put-up points to get to the playoffs.
NFL Coach of the Year: Mike Vrabel, New England Patriots
About: There are a lot of possibilities for this award, but it probably gives you an idea of where I’m going with my playoff predictions. Essentially, the Patriots have been a non-factor for a number of seasons, and really bad the past two seasons. I think with Vrabel back, that changes. I like the Patriots this year, and if they go from worst to the playoffs, that should be enough to make him a top contender for this award.
NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year: R.J. Harvey, RB, Denver Broncos
About: Some contenders here spring to mind. I think Ashton Jeanty is going to be great. But we’ve seen this award go to rookies on playoff teams the past few years. As much as I like Jeanty, I don’t see the Raiders making the post-season. The Broncos, however, I like as contenders. The running game has been a missing piece for Sean Payton, who appears to have his man in Harvey. I think Harvey will explode this year and get it done.
NFL Offensive Player of the year: Ja’Marr Chase, WR, Cincinnati Bengals
About: A lot of Bengals on this list, I know. But if it wasn’t for Saquon Barkley’s historic season in 2024, I think Chase would have won this award. He led the lead in receptions, receiving yards, and receiving touchdowns. And you know what, I think he’ll do it again. I like Burrow and Chase this year.
