The Buffalo Bills had another strong campaign in 2024. They won the AFC East easily, earning the No. 2 seed in the AFC. After earning a trip to the AFC Championship Game, the Bills again faced the Kansas City Chiefs. Again, it was a close game. And again, the Chiefs won in the playoffs. Can the Bills do what it takes to get to the Super Bowl before their window closes? Let’s dive in.

Off-Season Changes

The Bills acquired Amari Cooper mid-season in 2024. He is a free agent that remains unsigned after not making much of an impact for the Bills. Another receiver, Mack Hollins, left the Bills and signed with the New England Patriots. On defense, the Bills let pass rusher Von Miller go. He ended up signing with the Washington Commanders.

On offense, the Bills acquired a couple new receivers. The first was free agent Josh Palmer, who comes over from the Chargers. Palmer caught 182 passes and 10 touchdowns in four seasons with the Chargers. The Bills also added receiver Elijah Moore, who was with the Browns in 2024. He finished as WR67 and provides some depth for the Bills’ passing game.

Defensively, the Bills added some reinforcements. That included pass rusher Joey Bosa from the Chargers and linebacker Shaq Thompson. The team also added cornerbacks Dane Jackson and Tre’Davious White to bolster the secondary. The Bills focused on defense in the draft, spending six of nine picks on defense, including First Round selection Maxwell Hairston.

Fantasy Impact

The Bills are led by Josh Allen, the reigning NFL MVP. He finished as QB2 and is a threat passing and rushing, with double-digit touchdowns in both. He’s a Top 5 option at the position, and a decent bet for QB1. In the backfield, he’s teamed with James Cook. Cook wants a new contract, which might not happen, but he’s been a force for the Bills. He was RB8 in 2024, rushing for more than 1,000 yards and 16 touchdowns. He’s backed up by Ray Davis, who is a good dynasty stash and showed some flashes in 2024. I like Cook as an RB1 again in 2025.

In the passing game, the lead receiver was Khalil Shakir, who finished as WR37. He again figures to be a force in the passing game, though the Bills have to hope Keon Coleman takes a step forward in year two. At tight end, Dalton Kincaid was second on the team in targets but finished as just TE30. He has some low-end TE1 upside but is more of a TE2. I think Shakir is a WR3, while Coleman is a WR5 with upside.

The Bottom Line

The Bills remain one of the best teams in the AFC with Allen. They improved on defense and added some strategic pieces on offense. I think they’re the best in the AFC East and one of the best in the AFC. They’ll get pushed by some of the teams in the AFC, but the window is still cracked open for the Bills to get to a Super Bowl.
