The 2025 NFL Season is here. To get you ready for the action, we’ll be previewing each of the 32 NFL Teams as well as offering predictions for year-end award winners and playoff participants. Check back here each day through September 3 for another installment of the 2025 NFL Preview series.
Back in 2022, the Giants were a surprise playoff team. They showed heart and pluck as Daniel Jones and Brian Daboll got the Giants to the Divisional Round. After a slump in 2023, the question was whether the duo had any magic left in 2024. The answer came quickly, and it was a resounding no. Jones was released mid-season, ending his Giants’ tenure, and the team slumped to a 3-14 finish. While Daboll survived the season, it’s clear the pressure is on heading into 2025.
Off-Season Changes
The Giants saw Jones leave mid-season, while veteran Drew Lock returned to the Seahawks during the off-season. The team also shed some big defensive pieces, with linebacker Isaiah Simmons departing for the Green Bay Packers and pass rusher Azeez Ojulari heading to the Philadelphia Eagles. The Eagles also snagged cornerback Adoree Jackson and linebacker Patrick Johnson.
On offense, the Giants re-built their quarterback room. They acquired veterans Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston and spent a late First Round pick on Jaxson Dart. Dart figures to apprentice this season, as they hand things over to Wilson. He finished 6-5 with 2,482 yards and 16 touchdowns for the playoff-bound Steelers in 2024. The Giants also added to the backfield, snagging Cam Skattebo in Fourth Round. He ran for 1,711 yards in 2024 for Arizona State.
Fantasy Impact
There are questions all over the Giants roster when it comes to fantasy production. Chief among them are the quarterback position. Wilson was QB24 last season despite starting only 11 games. He has been declared the starter, and I think he will be to start, at least. He has some QB2 upside, but I think he finishes as a QB3. I expect to see Dart by the end of the season, but he’s more of a dynasty stash at this point. Winston will become interesting if they trade him, if not it’s hard to see him having great value on the Giants.
In the backfield, Tyrone Tracy was a pleasant surprise in 2024 after being a Fifth-Round selection. He finished as RB26 and has been a trendy pick up. There is some upside, but the backfield is more crowded. Skattebo is there, and veteran Devin Singletary remains. Tracy probably gets the lead this year, but he’s an RB3 for me. I think Skattebo will be involved, will usurp goal line opportunities, and is a better hold in dynasty.
In the passing game, there isn’t much question about Malik Nabers. He finished as WR6 as a rookie despite an uneven pass offense. The team has better quarterback options this year, and I think he has Top 5 upside. Wan’Dale Robinson was a PPR machine in 2024, while Darius Slayton is a contributor, and the team has a good, young tight end prospect in Theo Johnson. Johnson is a good dynasty hold for me, but I’m not sure he cracks the Top 20 in 2025. I think Robinson has some WR4/Flex appeal, while Slayton is more of a boom-or-bust flex option.
The Bottom Line
The Giants were a mess in 2024. I was surprised they rolled it back with Daboll and General Manager Joe Shoen, but it seems like a short leash in 2025. But is the team better? That’s the question. This is a tough division, and the Giants have some pieces but don’t seem like a lock to be more cohesive. I think they end up missing the playoffs and falling short of .500 again, leading to more changes next off-season.
