The 2025 NFL Season is here. To get you ready for the action, we’ll be previewing each of the 32 NFL Teams as well as offering predictions for year-end award winners and playoff participants. Check back here each day through September 3 for another installment of the 2025 NFL Preview series.

It was a dream season for the Philadelphia Eagles. The team’s big off-season acquisition—running back Saquon Barkley—was a hit. The Eagles dominated on the field during the regular season. Then they rolled right through the playoffs. The year culminated with a 40-22 win over the Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl. Now, what can they do for an encore?

Off-Season Changes

The Eagles didn’t undergo many major changes. Offensive Coordinator Kellen Moore left the team for the Head Coaching job at the New Orleans Saints. In addition, longtime backup running back Kenneth Gainwell left in free agency, as did guard Mekhi Becton, linebacker Oren Burks, defensive end Josh Sweat, and cornerback Darius Slay. The Eagles also traded backup quarterback Kenny Pickett to the Cleveland Browns in exchange for Dorian Thompson Robinson.

The team didn’t make a lot of big additions, either. The Eagles did add Kyle McCord in the draft. He’ll join Thompson Robinson and Tanner McKee in fighting for the backup quarterback job. The Eagles also added A.J. Dillon at running back. He sat out 2024 with injury, but prior to that he added more than 2,100 yards and 14 touchdowns in three seasons with the Packers. The Eagles also loaded up on defense, adding veterans Azeez Ojulari and Adoree Jackson, and taking linebacker Jihaad Campbell in the First Round of the NFL Draft.

Fantasy Impact

The Eagles had a strong offense in 2024, and thanks to the Tush Push surviving at the NFL Owners Meetings this off-season, the team has one of its best weapons in tact. That’s good for Jalen Hurts. He finished as QB8 in 2024 despite throwing for just 2,903 yards and 18 touchdowns. He added 630 yards rushing and 14 rushing touchdowns. With rushing upside a big part of his game, I like Hurts to finish as a QB1 again.

His backfield partner, Barkley, also had an amazing 2024. He was the Offensive Player of the Year, and was in the running for NFL MVP. He rushed for 2,005 yards and 13 touchdowns in just 16 games. He finished as RB2 in fantasy and is a lock for a Top 5 fantasy finish again, as long as he’s healthy. The question is how much volume Hurts and Dillon might siphon away from him. Gainwell rushed for just 275 yards in 2024. Dillon has been more productive than that in the past, usually earning more than 160 carries. If he gets that volume for the Eagles, he could have some low-end flex value.

In the passing game, it’s about A.J. Brown, DeVonta Smith, and tight end Dallas Goedert. Brown and Smith missed time with injury in 2024, as did Goedert. With the strong running game, the Eagles were able to thrive. But they finished No. 32 in the NFL in pass attempts in 2024. That figures to improve in 2025. If Brown remains healthy, he’s a low-end WR1 for me, while Smith is more of a WR2. Goedert, if healthy, is a low-end TE1 option. None of the other Eagles pass catchers are worth rostering.

The Bottom Line

The Eagles won the Super Bowl and looked good doing it in 2024. They have the core of the offense back and that should make them formidable. In the meantime, the defense could be even better, especially with Vic Fangio running things. The NFC East hasn’t had a back-to-back champion since 2004, which was the end of a four-year run by the Eagles. Can they break that 20-year streak of no repeat champions? I think it’s possible, but it’s also possible the Commanders push them for the NFC East crown. Either way, I think the Eagles are a playoff team.
