The Life List follows Alex (Sofia Carson), whose mum has a close relationship with her. Her mum dies, leaving DVDs, recording messages to Alex. Alex’s mum discovers a list of things that Alex wanted to do that Alex made as a kid. Her mum challenges Alex to do them all before New Year. Each time she completes a task, she unlocks a new DVD, but will she be able to complete them all before time runs out?
The Life List is a great comedy-drama that surpassed my expectations. From the very opening scene, you get big laughs. I think it’s rare nowadays to get a film that makes the comedy work, but this one did. I found myself laughing out loud lots throughout the movie. Alex was a great character, and I enjoyed how confident she was about asking certain relationship questions confidently, which made for some funny moments.
Despite this film being very funny, it can also be very deep and emotional. They got a good balance between funny moments and also deep, serious, and sad moments. I thought the cast was great, and Sofia had good chemistry with everyone. I also liked some of Alex’s outfits and shoes. The story concludes with a good heartwarming positive message.
Overall, The Life List is a great film that can be heartfelt, very funny, and emotional. It’s definitely a film not to miss!
