Picture This follows Pia (Simone Ashley), a photographer struggling with her photo shop. As her sister prepares for marriage, Pia’s parents pressure her to find a partner. She then encounters a mystical fortune teller who predicts she will discover her true love within the following five dates. This leads her family to actively assist her in finding a match.
The film was enjoyable and effectively showcased Indian culture. It featured surprisingly good comedy, which is often lacking in modern films. The storyline combined romance with heartfelt moments. Throughout the movie, Pia’s dates frequently go wrong, resulting in comedic situations. One scene featured a small twist that I did not expect, leading to a surprising reveal. I also liked the mum in this film. She initially seemed strict, but it soon became clear she is laid-back and has several amusing moments.
Hero Fiennes Tiffin was outstanding in this film, and he and Simone Ashley shared great chemistry. It was refreshing to see Hero portray a kind and relaxed character, contrasting with his previous roles, as it highlighted another side of his acting.
However, one downside of the film was that Pia’s character occasionally seemed slightly mean, though these moments were intended for comedic effect. Despite being funny, they felt inconsistent with her character and out of place, but they were easily overlooked.
Overall, Picture This is a lighthearted romantic comedy with laughs, a great cast, and a focus on different cultures. I recommend it.
