The new true crime biopic of Detroit native Dwen Curry, FIGHTING TO BE ME: THE DWEN CURRY STORY, is available today (2/27) exclusively on BET+.

In this coming-of-age story, Dyllón Burnside (Pose) stars as the lead, alongside D.B. Woodside (9-1-1: Lone Star) and A.J. Johnson (Baby Boy). Based on the powerful true-life story, Detroit native Dwen Curry is forced to move to Oakland, CA in the early 90s to overcome drug addiction and depression. After finding success as a salon owner and celebrity stylist, Dwen becomes fueled by desire for a lavish lifestyle and leads a secret life making millions from fraud. The biopic explores Dwen’s struggles around sexuality, identity, and self-acceptance as Dwen journeys from being a gay man to fully accepting herself as transgender.
