We are proud to share the upcoming VOD release of THE CORONER’S ASSISTANT by writer/director Angeline Walsh. The 4-episode web series will begin streaming on TUBI January 25, 2025.

The Coroner’s Assistant is a dark comedy that follows the misadventures of medical student James Rigby as he unintentionally becomes entangled in the dark underworld of Victorian London’s cadaver business, led by the strange and mysterious Oliver Cross.

The TV series recently received the Inaugural Indie Series Spotlight Award at the Astra Awards. The Indie Series Spotlight Award recognizes an independently funded web or television series with a budget under $500,000 dollars. Set in Victorian-era England, The Coroner’s Assistant was made entirely in the filmmaker’s hometown of Cleveland, Ohio. The series won Best Costumes (Aimee Morgan), Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy (Jeremy Gladen), and the Spotlight Award at the 14th annual Indie Series Awards in 2024. Astras Award Acceptance Speech

It was a labor of love that took seven years, but Angeline Walsh sees this as a testament to the strength of the crew and the people who believed in the project. “If we made Season One with just $10,000,” she said during her Astras acceptance speech, ”imagine what we could do with more!”

“We were just running around Cleveland with $5, a gimbal, and a dream,” added Cedric Gegel, who stars as James Rigby in The Coroner’s Assistant. “We didn’t wait for permission or examine audience metrics. It is so hard for any series or film to break through the noise these days. Especially for an indie series, recognition could literally change our careers and change our lives. I can say with certainty that this show has already changed mine.”

Walsh wrote The Coroner’s Assistant when she was 22 years old and received this award when she was merely 29 years old. Plans are in motion for Season 2.
