We’ve only got two weeks of the regular season left, meaning that the games are taking on added importance for those fighting for the playoffs. We also have a trio of games on Saturday that I’m including in this week’s roundup since there are so few games on the actual Sunday slate. Below are the five games on Saturday and Sunday I’m most excited to see.
Saturday Game:
Denver Broncos (9-6) at Cincinnati Bengals (7-8)
About: This is a crucial game when it comes to the final seed in the AFC Playoffs. The Broncos hold the seed and are in position to get the slot. But it’s not a lock. The Bengals, meanwhile, were once 4-8 and seemed out of it. Now, they’re 7-8 and have a shot at the playoffs. It’s a wild scenario, but it’s a shot. It begins with them winning this game. Meanwhile, a win or tie for Denver punches their ticket.
Sunday Early Games:
Dallas Cowboys (7-8) at Philadelphia Eagles (12-3)
About: The Cowboys are out of playoff contention. The Eagles are still in contention for the No. 1 overall seed. On paper, this is a lopsided battle. But Dallas is playing for pride and that can’t be dismissed. They got the win over the Buccaneers on Sunday night and would love to play spoiler for the Eagles, too. The Eagles, meanwhile, might be without Jalen Hurts and are coming off a tough loss. This could be interesting.
Carolina Panthers (4-11) at Tampa Bay Buccaneers (8-7)
About: The Panthers have been playing spoiler for much of the season, even earning the upset win last week that knocked the Cardinals out of the playoffs. The Buccaneers, meanwhile, are sitting at 8-7 and striving to win the NFC South. They’re coming off a tough loss in Dallas with the Atlanta Falcons on their heels. They need a win and Carolina would love to play spoiler.
Sunday Late Games:
Green Bay Packers (11-4) at Minnesota Vikings (13-2)
About: Between these two teams they have 24 wins, and yet neither is atop the NFC North. The Vikings are chasing the Lions and the No. 1 overall seed. To get it, they need to sweep their last two division games. That starts by holding serve against the Packers. Green Bay, meanwhile, has lost four games against teams with 12 wins or more. They’d like to turn the tide on the Vikings and split the season series.
Sunday Night Football:
Atlanta Falcons (8-7) at Washington Commanders (10-5)
About: The Commanders punched their ticket for the playoffs with a win over the Eagles last week. The Falcons, meanwhile, got a win with Michael Penix, Jr., in the lineup to keep them in the race with the Buccaneers for the NFC South title. The Commanders could still have a shot at the NFC East if things break right the final two weeks, and that includes a victory over the Falcons. The Falcons, meanwhile, need to win out to fight for a final playoff spot.
