The 2024 NFL Season is rapidly approaching. The season kicks off on Thursday, September 5 and every day through Monday, September 2 we’ll be going team-by-team as we preview the new season. Be sure to come back here every afternoon as we look at a new team and get your ready for the 2024 season. We’ll cover off-season changes, the fantasy prospects, and the prediction for how the team will fare this season.

I’ve looked at all 32 NFL teams, previewing each team’s changes, fantasy prospects, and offering a prediction. Now, with the last two days of this preview series, it’s time to put a stake in the ground and pick the teams I think will make the post-season and who will perform well enough to earn the major awards. Today, it’s the awards. I’ll be offering my prediction in five different categories based on how I think the season will go. Let’s dive in!

NFL Comeback Player of the Year: Aaron Rodgers, New York Jets

About: Rodgers was the NFL’s biggest story last off-season, leaving Green Bay after putting up Hall of Fame numbers to come to the New York Jets. His presence dominated the off-season and led the annual edition of Hard Knocks. He lasted four plays before his season came to an end. In fact, Rodgers didn’t even complete a pass. Without him, a trio of Jets’ quarterbacks threw for 3,373 yards, 11 touchdowns and 15 interceptions. Rodgers’ last season in Green Bay saw him throw for 3,695 yards and 26 touchdowns. And it was considered a down year. If he returns to form, as I suspect, and leads the Jets to the playoffs, this is an easy call.

NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year: Caleb Williams, Chicago Bears

About: I know what you’re thinking, picking the No. 1 overall pick, bold call. It’s not a stretch to think Williams comes into the season the favorite. I’ve fallen more in love with him—and the Bears—thanks to this year’s edition of Hard Knocks. The Bears are loaded on offense with D.J. Moore, Rome Odunze, and Keenan Allen at wide receiver, Cole Kmet and Gerald Everett at tight end, and D’Andre Swift and Khalil Herbert in the backfield. They have a strong defense, too. I think the Bears can be this year’s Texans and make it into the playoffs, which bodes well for Williams here.

NFL Offensive Player of the Year: Tyreek Hill, Miami Dolphins

About: Hill spent much of 2023 on pace for 2,000 yards receiving. I think he’s motivated to get there, and that’s a good thing for the Dolphins. He had 1,799 yards and 13 touchdowns in 2023, his second straight year with more than 1,700 yards. I like his chances of getting the milestone this season as the Dolphins push to win the AFC East and make some moves in the playoffs. If he gets there, I think he takes this award.

NFL MVP: Jared Goff, Detroit Lions

About: This probably speaks to where I’m leaning tomorrow when I look at the playoffs, but there it is. A few years ago, when the Rams traded for Matthew Stafford, Goff seemed to be something of a throw in with a bevy of draft picks. All he’s done is throw for 12,258 yards and 78 touchdowns in 48 starts, helping change the fate and culture in Detroit. He’s the veteran leader and heart of a good offense, and I think this year he’ll be recognized as such.

NFL Coach of the Year: Dan Campbell, Detroit Lions

About: Going Lions here again and this probably tells you I like this Detroit team. I do, and I think the Lions are going to show out in 2024. I’m excited to watch them play and I think Campbell, with his guts and energy is a catalyst that helps this team go. He and Goff are worthy of recognition, and after this season I think they get it.
