The 2024 NFL Season is rapidly approaching. The season kicks off on Thursday, September 5 and every day through Monday, September 2 we’ll be going team-by-team as we preview the new season. Be sure to come back here every afternoon as we look at a new team and get your ready for the 2024 season. We’ll cover off-season changes, the fantasy prospects, and the prediction for how the team will fare this season.

The Titans stepped into a new era in 2023, seeing long-time veteran starter Ryan Tannehill step aside as rookie Will Levis stepped in. It was an up-and-down transition that saw the Titans finish at the bottom of the AFC South. This off-season, the team made more changes, including replacing Mike Vrabel with Brian Callahan as the team’s Head Coach. Now, with Levis the starter heading into season two, it’s time to see if the Titans can take a step forward. Let’s dive in.

Off-Season Changes

The Titans bid farewell to Tannehill this off-season. While he remains unsigned, it’s clear the Titans are moving in a new direction, signing Mason Rudolph to back up Levis. The team also parted ways with powerhouse back Derrick Henry, who signed with the Baltimore Ravens. In his stead, the team has second year back Tyjae Spears and signed former Cowboys running back Tony Pollard. In five seasons with Dallas Pollard rushed for 3,621 yards and 23 touchdowns, catching 176 passes. He figures to give them a new weapon out of the backfield.

The team also worked to beef up its passing game. The Titans signed former Bengals’ receiver Tyler Boyd, who played with Callahan in Cincinnati. But their biggest new target was free agent receiver Calvin Ridley, who spent last season with the Jaguars. He caught 76 passes for 1,016 yards and eight touchdowns after sitting out the 2022 season. Now, he forms a formidable starting duo with DeAndre Hopkins in Tennessee.

In the draft, the Titans focused on beefing up the lines. With a First-Round selection the team grabbed offensive tackle J.C. Latham. In the Second Round, the Titans focused on the defensive line, signing T’Vondre Sweat. That gives them some extra pop in the trenches for 2024.

Fantasy Prospects

The biggest question is Levis. In nine starts he went 3-6 with 1,808 yards and eight touchdowns. His maturation and development are the biggest challenge for Callahan. I suspect some slow going. He’s a low-end QB2 for me, possibly a QB3. In the backfield, I think Pollard and Spears will split the work. I have Pollard the nominal lead as a low-end RB2, with Spears in the RB3 range.

In the passing game, the team has Hopkins, Ridley, Boyd, and tight end Chig Okonkwo vying for targets. That’s a big group of pass-catchers and doesn’t even consider Treylon Burks or the running backs, who could also be in the mix. That’s good for Levis and the Titans but might not be great for fantasy. I think Ridley will end up the top finisher, but he and Hopkins figure to be close. Hopkins is currently dealing with a knee injury, but should be back early in the season. I have Ridley in the WR3 range and Hopkins high-end WR4, with Boyd more of a WR5 and Okonkwo more of a TE2. I think Burks is quickly losing value, especially in Dynasty. I’m not sure he needs to be rostered.

Prediction

Your feelings on Levis will likely govern your hopes for the Titans. I’m not sold Levis is the answer and I think this could be a long season for the Titans. They feel like the clear No. 4 team in the AFC South, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see them with only four or five wins.
