Following the series episode last night, Official Game of Thrones Podcast: House of the Dragon released their next in-season episode for season 2 with guests Sonoya Mizuno (Mysaria), co-head writer Sara Hess and Ewan Mitchell (Prince Aemond). Listen to the episode HERE.

Notable moments from the episode include:

  • Mitchell returns to the podcast to talk about Aemond’s cutthroat leadership style and hunger for power as he switches to the King’s chair following Aegon’s injury at Rook’s Rest.
  • Hess talks about how she wrote Harrenhal as its own character and how she leaned into its haunted and mystical nature to put Daemon into a situation he could not control with his physical prowess or his reputation as a legendary warrior.
  • Hess lays out the major themes of how power changes and warps Aemond, Rhaenyra and many of the characters this season and how Rhaenyra grapples with her femininity and people undermining her prowess as a leader.
  • Hess describes the process of creating this season’s new characters Alys Rivers, Ser Gwayne Hightower and Alyn and Addam of Hull and explains the complexity behind Mysaria’s intentions and the emotions leading up her kiss with Rhaenyra, which was a plot point stemming from Emma’s impulse.
  • Mizuno talks about her experience working closely with Emma D’Arcy, the rare honesty and trust between their characters and how Daemon serves as a bridge that connects them.
