-Allison McCulloch
“Computers won’t replace us. A computer does a rather neat job of filling in for us.”
Alison Tavel made a documentary called about her late father’s invention, a synthesizer called Resynator. She takes us on a quest to discover just who Don Tavel really was personally and professionally.
Although the invention never quite made it off the ground, Alison Tavel tries to revive it by introducing it to musicians including Butch Vig (Garbage/Nirvana), Mike Gordon (Phish), Rami Jaffee (Foo Fighters), and many others.
A touching moment in the film is when Tavel goes to England to meet up with Peter Gabriel who tells her she should move forward instead of recreating the past.
“Go forth and RESYNATE.”
Alison Tavel comes to terms with who her father is and how her grandmother reacted after he passed away. This 10 year process was immersive, healing, and beautiful. I am here for documentaries like this.
