We have just about a month until the NFL Free Agent Frenzy begins. That’s soon followed by the draft as teams begin preparing for the 2024 campaign. Prior to the start of free agency, over the next four weeks, I’m going to be looking at 10 options at each of the key offensive positions—quarterback, running back, wide receiver, and tight end—that could make a fantasy impact. It’s not a strong draft class for running backs, but fortunately it’s an extremely strong free agent class.

Derrick Henry, Tennessee Titans
About:
Henry rushed for 9,502 yards and 90 touchdowns in eight seasons in Tennessee. Now, it seems the Titans are ready to move on and, likely, get younger. Yet, Henry still has gas in the tank. In fact, his 2023 was better than your probably remember. He carried 280 times for 1,167 yards and 12 touchdowns. He’s going to be a battering ram for some team, with the Bills and Cowboys feeling like great options.

Saquon Barkley, New York Giants
About
: Saquon is one of three running backs on this list that were here last year and got the Franchise Tag. That’s not likely to happen again, and it also seems Barkley is a player destined to move on. He’s been the heart-and-soul of the Giants for years, and now could be a great three-down weapon for another team. He’s another player rumored to be on the Cowboys’ wish list.

Josh Jacobs, Las Vegas Raiders
About
: After a career year in 2022, Jacobs got the Franchise Tag for 2023. It didn’t go as well, as he ended up hurt and out of the lineup down the stretch for the Raiders. It’s not as likely he returns to the Raiders in 2024, meaning that Jacobs could have an interesting position on the market. Jacobs is younger than the first two names on this list, and yet he has 5,543 yards and 46 touchdowns for his career. He’s also a better receiver than sometimes he gets credit for. He could be a franchise back for some team in need.

Tony Pollard, Dallas Cowboys
About
: Pollard was the third back to get a Franchise Tag in 2023. He parlayed it into a starting, three-down role for Dallas. His 2023 season showed he seems better suited to being a complimentary back than a feature back. Though his carries and receptions increased, his yards and touchdowns decreased in 2023. I doubt he gets the tag—or ends up back in Dallas—for the 2024 season. But Pollard will be a weapon for some offense in need. Perhaps he’ll fill a key role for former Offensive Coordinator Kellen Moore in Philadelphia.

D’Andre Swift, Philadelphia Eagles
About
: After a draft day trade sent him from Detroit to Philadelphia, Swift took a bit to get going with his new team. When he did, he was a great backfield weapon for the Eagles. Now he hits the open market. He’s coming off a career-year as a rusher, which should parlay him into a decent role in a good offense. Let’s just hope he avoids the Miles Sanders trap.

Austin Ekeler, Los Angeles Chargers
About
: Ekeler was the No. 1 running back in fantasy in 2021 and 2022, but he struggled in 2023. In fact, the Chargers’ offense as a whole struggled. Ekeler is a fantastic receiver and a tough back, but he’s under-sized and not built to carry the load out of the backfield. As an older player but one with some skills, he’d be an ideal complimentary back for an offense in need of a boost in the passing game.

J.K. Dobbins, Baltimore Ravens
About:
Dobbins is one of the most interesting pieces in free agency, and perhaps the hardest to figure. He came out of Ohio State as a highly rated prospect, but he can’t stay on the field. In four seasons, he managed just 234 carries for 1,347 yards. Over the past three seasons, he has just 100 carries for 542 yards. He still has potential, but he’s likely to get a prove it deal at best, and one where he’s part of a deep committee.

A.J. Dillon, Green Bay Packers
About:
Dillon once looked like the future hammer for the Packers’ backfield but it never really game together. He’s more of a grinder, but not likely to be a good feature back for an offense. He has value and should land a role, but I think his fantasy value is likely to be capped and diminished from where it was a few years ago.

Antonio Gibson, Washington Commanders
About
: If Dillon was the two-down pounder, Gibson feels like the player who is likely a third-down specialist. We saw him carry the load early in his Commanders career, and he certainly has pop, but he seemed to fair better as a role player. Now a free agent, he’s likely to go somewhere as a change-of-pace option.

Zack Moss, Indianapolis Colts
About
: Moss revived his flagging career in 2023 with the Colts. After never really reaching his potential in Buffalo, he got a chance to fill in for Jonathan Taylor in 2023 and shined. Taylor is on a long-term contract, so Moss feels like a luxury for the Colts. He could be brought back as depth, but it’s more likely he’ll go to an RB-needy team that sees his potential to contribute to a backfield in need of some pop.
