Trolls Band Together is the third film in the franchise. Poppy, played by Anna Kendrick, Discovers that her boyfriend Branch, played by Justin Timberlake, and his four brothers were once part of her favorite boy band. Branch’s brother returns after years, seeking his help to rescue another sibling kidnapped and tortured within a diamond. Evil sibling pop stars are draining his life and voice to enhance their own. The brothers must reunite, and create the perfect harmony as that’s the only way to break a diamond to save their brother. Will they save him in time, or will Branch’s brother die?

Trolls Band Together was a good film with good music, there were more funny moments than I expected that made me chuckle. Anna and Justin are great with their characters and have good chemistry with each other. I found it funny that Poppy’s character talks super fast sometimes. Some other funny moments were when a character says they’re not going to find something, but then find the thing they said they wouldn’t find, or say they’re not going to fall but suddenly fall. Another funny scene was when they fell into the water, you think it’s going to be a huge splash, but then it’s just a little plop. The songs are enjoyable but not as good or as fun as the first film, but I still liked them. Trolls has a great main story and had a twist I didn’t see coming!
The 3D on the film was good, it felt like you were the camera moving and flying around or were standing next to them on the stage. Another scene I liked was when the trolls are on a road in a new city, and it feels like you are the front of the car driving along, this was a very clever and cool 3D moment. The film had good depth but felt slightly cardboard cut out but only for certain scenes.
I would have liked there to be more pop-out as the Dreamworks opening logo seemed to have more pop-out than the actual film. I was a little disappointed with the pop-out as there were only two scenes I remember with good pop/fly-out in-your-face moments. I know they could have done more and felt some moments needed it, this was proven due to the opening credits logo so it was a shame they didn’t put the 3D to full use. Trolls Band Together was a great experience in 3D and made everything feel bigger.
Trolls Band Together wasn’t as good as the first film due to the fact there were lots of random scenes added in they didn’t need that didn’t affect the story, and they could have used that time to focus more on the relationships. An example is a scene where they are driving and click the speed button, but it’s also a drug, so we get this montage of them acting like they are on drugs while going fast; there was some funny stuff that came from it, but doesn’t think they needed to include. I don’t believe I saw the cloud guy in this film and was excited to see him, it may have just been I missed him.
If you’re looking for a film that has good songs want a laugh and a fun main story then I would recommend it, if you want to be immersed in the world of trolls then definitely book a 3D ticket
