Tonight Week 6 of the NFL Season comes to an end with what could end up being one of the most compelling games of the week. The Dallas Cowboys come into Los Angeles and battle the Chargers and their former Offensive Coordinator, Kellen Moore. More on that in a moment, first let’s consider what else we saw in Week 6.

And then there were none

The Eagles and the 49ers came into the week as the lone undefeated teams in the league. Both were playing in matchups they figured to have a chance to win. Both took losses. The 49ers lost on the road, seeing Deebo Samuel and Christian McCaffrey go out with injury. The Eagles lost on the road in New York to Zach Wilson and a fired-up Jets team. Both are still good at 5-1 but it is a bump in the road for two of the best teams in football.

The Jaguars’ biggest threat is the Texans

The Jaguars got the 37-20 win over the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday. It moved the Jaguars a game ahead in the win-loss column but gave them the season sweep. That matters. And with the Colts’ starter, Anthony Richardson, on IR and possibly getting season-ending surgery, that gives the Jaguars a big advantage. But the Texans are also 3-3, just a game back, and beat the Jaguars badly already this season. That could be the new battle for the AFC South.

It could be the end of an era in New England

The Patriots are 1-5 on the season. They lost to the Raiders 21-17, as Bill Belichick is now 0-3 against Josh McDaniels. Worse yet, the Patriots appear to be a franchise in need of something of a rebuild. There have been rumors for a few weeks that this could be the end of the line for Belichick in New England, and those shouts will only get louder with each loss the Patriots pile up.

And now, on to the Monday night game.

Dallas Cowboys (3-2) at New England Patriots (2-2)

The Cowboys have won three games in impressive fashion. They’ve also lost two games in head-scratching fashion. They’re coming of a 42-10 loss to the 49ers and now have a second straight game in California, this time facing their former Offensive Coordinator and a team fresh off a bye week. The hope is there are some offensive fireworks, especially for those that need a Monday miracle.

For Dallas, Dak Prescott is a low-end QB1 for me while CeeDee Lamb is a WR1. They need to feed Lamb the ball. I have Tony Pollard as a fringe RB1 and I would also look at starting Jake Ferguson, the tight end. I don’t have enough confidence in either Michael Gallup or Brandin Cooks to trust them in a lineup. If you’re desperate, I prefer Gallup.

For the Chargers, Austin Ekeler is off the injury report and back. He’s an RB1. Justin Herbert is a Top 5 option at quarterback and Keenan Allen is a Top 5 option at receiver. They’re all in my starting lineup. Aside from that, Josh Palmer is a flex consideration for me. I’m picking the Chargers to get the win at home.
