The Blue Rose written, starring and directed by the talented George Baron, takes viewers on a journey into the world of crime horror and mystery. The film is about two detectives who embark on a mission to unravel a murder case.
Visually, “The Blue Rose” is a feast for the eyes. The attention to detail shines through in every frame, from the vibrant colors that pop off the screen to the sets that transport the audience to the old times of Hollywood. The costumes are also visually stunning, from cool suits to shiny dresses and shoes. The film’s style pays homage to the old Hollywood classics. The cast is also excellent, especially Olivia Scott Welch and Danielle Bisutti. George and Olivia had really good chemistry together. Throughout the film, there were lots of small funny moments I enjoyed. I did also find the movie surprisingly gory at times.
Sadly, where the film doesn’t work and lacks is the story and script, although I was engaged, I would have liked a more clear plot without lots of plot holes. The Blue Rose leaves you wondering what is going on in this world, what peoples motives are and many more unanswered questions, that makes you want to understand everything happening in this story. George Baron has said in the past that the film is meant to be confusing. I feel like if the film tied up all the lose ends and everything was clearer then I would have enjoyed it more. I still had fun watching this film and following these characters on there journey. George Baron is a young Filmaker and actor but one to look out for.
