The Bills entered the 2022 season hoping to finally make the Super Bowl. The season didn’t end as planned. After missing a game against the Bengals due to the on-field injury, the Bills missed a shot to be the No. 1 seed. Instead, the team ended up coming up short against the Cincinnati Bengals, out in the Divisional Round yet again.

Off-Season Changes

The Bills saw a number of veterans on offense leave the squad. That included backup quarterback Case Keenum, who went to Houston. Starting running back Devin Singletary also signed with the Texans. Slot receiver Isaiah McKenzie left the team to sign with the Indianapolis Colts, while veteran receiver Jamison Crowder went to the New York Giants. Defensively, linebacker Tremaine Edmunds left for the Bears.

In free agency, the Bills brought in Kyle Allen as the new backup quarterback. The team also added depth to backfield, signing former Patriot Damien Harris. Harris rushed for 2,094 yards and 20 touchdowns in four seasons with the Patriots. Defensively, the team signed former Rams Leonard Floyd and Taylor Rapp. The Bills also signed former Dolphins’ receiver Trent Sherfield.

In the draft, the Bills used their top pick on tight end Dalton Kincaid. He caught 106 passes for 1,400 yards and 16 touchdowns the past two seasons. The Bills are expected to use Kincaid in the slot and two tight end sets. In the Second-Round, the Bills added guard O’Cyrus Torrance to provide depth on the line.

Fantasy Impact

At quarterback, the Bills are led by Josh Allen. He’s a talented rusher and passer who finished as QB2 in 2022. He’s a lock as a QB1. In the backfield, Harris figures to split reps with second year back James Cook. Cook was RB44 a year ago. He has explosiveness but it’s unclear if he’ll carry the full load. I think the backs split the work, with Cook being an RB3 and the better of the options due to his passing game work.

In the passing game, the Bills have four relevant players in receivers Stefon Diggs and Gabe Davis, along with tight ends Dawson Knox and Kincaid. I expect all four to play a role. Diggs is the alpha, finishing as WR4 last season. He’s a WR1. Davis is the Wild Card. He has huge big play ability but hasn’t been consistent. I like him as a WR3. I think the tight ends will split the work, making both more of low-end TE2s that will be tough to rely on as a weekly play.

Prediction

The Bills continue to be one of the leading contenders, but the AFC East is a strong division. I think the Bills can win 11 or 12 games and contend for the division title once again.
