Thursday 3rd February 2022 will see the announcement of the British Academy of Film and Television nominations, for film.
Last year after strong backlash of lack of diversity in nominees from previous years, the academy put into place a small jury of 10-12 people to decide the nominees in Best Director and the acting categories. This led to crazy, out there nominees from very independent British films, and saw snubs from otherwise complete powerhouse front runners including Carey Mulligan, Olivia Colman and Gary Oldman.
This year, BAFTA voters get a say in nominees by picking the top two nominees which will then become instant locks for a nomination, then the jury decides the other four.
