Married couple Tig Notaro and Stephanie Allynne directed Am I OK?, a film that screenwriter Lauren Pomerantz based on the relationship between her and her best friend. Lucy (Dakota Johnson) and Jane (Sonoya Mizuno) personify the best friends very well. Lucy explores her feelings toward a very charming masseuse (Kiersey Clemons) and Jane faces challenges at work and with her boyfriend, Danny (Jermaine Fowler). Overall, it was very funny, charming, delightful, and engaging. Every actor seemed perfect for the part. In the Sundance virtual Q&A, Dakota Johnson said, “I went around and made out with a lot of women during COVID before we started filming…just to practice” and that she was ready to become a lesbian icon. However, it seems like she already is! Looking forward to future projects directed by Notaro and Allynne.
