Netflix is set to release a slightly controversial documentary in the near future, following some figure-heads that used to function as icons to support ‘Conversion Therapy’ and the struggles of living with perpetuating a falsehood.
That’s not what may be controversial, however. More than likely, as this branches into exploring a current extension/wave of religious-based investment in the power of belief and its relation to the transgender community, people are likely to feel targeted as they attempt to either explain how this helps them feel seen/validated or challenged/oppressed. I’d like to remind readers that it doesn’t have to be this way, and someone needing to tell their story doesn’t give you any obligation.
I’m excited to learn more about the experiences of those involved in this:
The feature directorial debut of Kristine Stolakis, this is produced by Jessica Devaney, Anya Rous, and Kristine Stolakis, while executive produced by Ryan Murphy and Jason Blum. Netflix will debut ‘Pray Away’ streaming on Netflix starting August 3rd, 2021.
