Jason Momoa has been retaining attention in “See” on Apple TV+between installments as a more charismatic/ energetic ‘Aquaman,’ but he’s travelled to Netflix to cover for Liam Neeson (not really) as a working/middle class hero that takes on ‘big pharma’ with his fists for family.
Ths suffers from a “trailer formula” that will feel familiar (this time the ambient cover is ‘Sweet Child O’ Mine’), but some of the direction and relationships feel engaging and you can see the fringes of a heartfelt story behind the hooded-work-jacket and muscle:
Starring Jason Momoa alongside Isabela Merced, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, Adria Arjona, Raza Jaffrey, Justin Bartha, Lex Scott Davis, Amy Brenneman, and Michael Raymond-James, this was directed by Brian Andrew Mendoza, making his feature directorial debut after one short film previously. Screenplay by Gregg Hurwitz and Philip Eisner. Produced by Jeff Fierson, Brad Peyton, Jason Momoa, and Brian Andrew Mendoza, this will be streaming on Netflix starting August 20th, 2021.
