Disney takes a formula and turns it on it’s head! Everyone is “special” except “Mirabel”… which makes her special. But she’s not! She doesn’t seem to have a superpower of fantastical talent! But the movie will be filled with that anyway. It looks like fun!…?

Disney animation has been consistently pushing for representation and stories that are comfortably familiar while slowly shaking what needs to be included on a family film (see the lack of an unneeded romance in “Raya.”) So I’m a little curious to see how far they take this premise:

Disney will release ‘Encanto’ in theaters starting November 24th, 2021.
