Hi, hello, happy Monday, DARREN ARONOFSKY IS MAKING A NEW MOVIE! Aronofsky’s last feature film was in 2017; the perfect mother! starring Jennifer Lawrence. Aronofsky is currently developing his next feature film, an adaption of Samuel D. Hunter’s The Whale for A24. Brendan Fraser is set to star and Aronofsky on board to direct. Per Deadline, A24 will have worldwide rights. 

In Hunter’s play The Whale, the audience follows a 600-pound recluse, hiding away from the world and slowly eating himself to death, who is given one last chance at redemption. I am not familiar with the original play, but it sounds like the subject matter fits in with Aronofsky’s dark and unusual interests. 

Aronofsky’s return to feature filmmaking is exciting for me, personally, as he’s one of my favorite directors. I’m also very excited to see Brendan Fraser in a starring role in a feature film! Fraser was most recently seen in the FX limited series Trust.
