Dan Levy and Rachel Sennott have joined to create a comedy series for Netflix, Big Mistakes. Levy wears multiple hats, being a showrunner, executive producer, and star in the lead role as Nicky. Starring alongside Levy are Laurie Metcalf and Taylor Ortega. The eight-episode comedy is quite an easy binge-watch that will have you laughing.

What is ‘Big Mistakes’ about?

From Emmy award-winning Dan Levy comes a bold, new comedic family saga within a high-stakes crime thriller. Big Mistakes follows Nicky (Levy) and Morgan (Taylor Ortega), two deeply incapable siblings who are in over their heads when a misguided theft for their dying grandmother accidentally pulls them into the world of organized crime. Blackmailed into increasingly dangerous assignments, they clumsily fail upwards, sinking deeper into chaos they’re ill-equipped to handle.

‘Big Mistakes’ Review

When you start to navigate the early stages of Big Mistakes, you understand the type of series that you are in store for. Nicky and Morgan are the type of brother and sister that aren’t necessarily close. But when you start to see them put the pieces together that they are entering this troubling world of danger, you can’t help but enjoy them coming together.

One of the best parts of Dan Levy’s rise is the fact that he knows the type of character that works for him. Within Big Mistakes, he is that quirky, funny, and outlandish variation of many of the previous characters he has played. His comedic talents are endless, and his ability to understand the pulse of what makes audiences laugh is unmatched. He also had quite a fun banter with Taylor Ortega. I thought Ortega was quite the perfect casting opposite Levy.

A good comedy series is one that makes you laugh and keeps you coming back for more. The writing within Big Mistakes doesn’t shy away from the outlandish concept but only uses it to put Nicky and Morgan in these oddball scenarios that make you laugh. Sennott and Levy both have a knack for the modern touch in comedy, as we saw earlier this year with I Love L.A. and Levy’s past work. This might be a match made in heaven.

Is ‘Big Mistakes’ Worth Watching?

Big Mistakes is quite a fun little ride. I loved Dan Levy and Taylor Ortega’s ability to bring the laughs while in this hilarious world. Comedy series are so hit and miss that it’s fun to find one that will keep you hitting next. At just eight episodes, if you are like me, you will binge this all in one sitting. If you are a fan of Levy and his work, this is one worth watching.

Big Mistakes is streaming on Netflix.
