Amid the chaotic end of the year and the cinema filled with plenty of options, Paul Feig is set to return with a thriller starring Sydney Sweeney and Amanda Seyfried. Can Feig capture the magic he had in A Simple Favor, or does this fall short of what book readers are hoping for? I share my review and whether or not you should check it out on the big screen.
What is ‘The Housemaid’ About?

Trying to escape her past, Millie (Sweeney) accepts a job as a live-in housemaid for the wealthy Nina (Seyfried) and Andrew Winchester (Brandon Sklenar). But what begins as a dream job quickly unravels into something far more dangerous — a sexy, seductive game of secrets, scandal, and power. Behind the Winchesters’ closed doors lies a world of shocking twists that will leave you guessing until the very end.
When does ‘The Housemaid’ come out?
You can check out Sydney Sweeney and Amanda Seyfried on the big screen starting on December 19.
‘The Housemaid’ Movie Review
Heading into the screening, I hadn’t read the book, so I wasn’t sure what kind of a ride I was expecting. That said, I was intrigued by the premise, and even when I saw the trailer, I knew this was something I wanted to see. First, I highly recommend checking this one out with an audience because that was a blast.
As for whether you should check it out, YES, this is a must-see in theaters. This is truly a delicious little thriller that will keep you guessing at every turn. I will be intrigued by those who read the book and understand the differences, but this one was quite a fun time at the theaters. Amanda Seyfried and Sydney Sweeney are so good together, and toss in Brendon Sklenar—this was a fun cast. Don’t miss this opening weekend!
