The Final Copy of Ilon Specht premieres in March to time with Women’s History Month. The film will globally debut on March 8th (International Women’s Day) on YouTube (via TED in their first film distro deal ever) + will stream on Prime Video.
Directed by Oscar- winner, Ben Proudfoot (The Last Repair Shop, The Queen of Basketball), who’s known for profiling little-known female trailblazers (Motorcycle Mary, The Best Chef in the World), the film tells the story of the then 23-year-old former copywriter who created L’Oréal Paris’s iconic slogan, “Because I’m Worth It.” At a time when women’s worth was dictated by men, Ilon, (a real-life Peggy Olson), defiantly penned a love letter to women and ushered in a new era of feminism.
SYNOPSIS
“An intimate deathbed account of the unsung advertising genius who coined L’Oréal’s iconic slogan, a four-word feminist manifesto that, against all odds, changed advertising forever.” Through a series of moving, and at times, comical interviews with Ilon and her stepdaughter Alison (who’s a subject of the film), viewers glimpse the icon’s extraordinary life and fiery spirit as the two women reflect on her personal and professional legacies.
