The Voice has returned for its 27th season. We saw the return of Adam Levine to the judge’s table, who joined previous judges John Legend, last year’s winning judge Michael Bublé, and new judge Kelsea Ballerini. The night saw many incredible performances, including Angie Rey. The singer from Seminole, Florida, resides in Nashville, TN, and heads onto the show to get the judges to turn their chairs. I enjoyed catching up with Angie to talk about performing, singing a Kelsea Ballerini song in front of her, and performing with her.

Angie Rey’s musical career jumpstarted early when she appeared on the Telemundo singing competition “La Voz Kids,” where she reached the Top 18. Since moving to Nashville, Rey has opened for stars like Wynonna Judd and Tanya Tucker. She entered The Voice, hoping to enter the spotlight and turn the judge’s heads.

Rey hit the stage, deciding to perform judges Kelsea Ballerini’s hit song “Penthouse” in front of her. The decision paid off, with Kelsea turning around rather fast and landing Rey in the next round. Even more remarkable, Michael suggests Kelsea get on the stage and sing with Rey, which leads to a magical moment on the opening night of season 27.

I chatted with Rey about her journey through music, her song choice, sharing that moment with Kelsea and what she hopes to gain throughout this journey.
