For many, if not most of us; music is one of the best parts about Christmas time – from legendary Christmas hits by Bing Crosby and Eartha Kitt to the more contemporary chart toppers from Sabrina Carpenter and Ariana Grande.

Following recent data crowning “All I Want for Christmas is You” by Mariah Carey as the most popular Christmas song in the US, the experts at GIGAcalculator were keen to uncover the most successful Christmas tracks over the years.

A big week for Mariah Carey’s “All I Want For Christmas Is You” – not only being crowned as the most popular Christmas song in the US, but GIGAcalculator can reveal it is also the most successful Christmas track – with 1.8 billion streams, the 1994 track has accumulated an estimated $7.5m in just Spotify royalties.

In second is Wham’s “Last Christmas” with 1.5 billion Spotify streams and suggested royalties of $6.3m. This track made waves in the UK last year as it achieved its first Christmas number 1  for the first time in the song’s lifetime (39 years in the making), completing the longest journey ever to Christmas number 1.

Interestingly, Ariana Grande’s “Santa Tell Me” ranks as the third most successful Christmas track from over the years. With the song celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, it has racked up over 1 billion streams on Spotify, earning the singer $4.3m in estimated royalties.
