LOS ANGELES, CA – August 9, 2024 – Electric OBrien proudly announces the release of Chip Chantry’s debut stand-up comedy special, Move Closer. The release comes fresh off the Philadelphia-based comedian’s breakout role as Kyle The Liar in the chart topping Netflix comedy series Tires. Move Closer will be available on Chip’s YouTube channel, www.youtube.com/@chipchantry, starting August 20th, 2024.
In Move Closer, Chantry takes audiences on a brisk journey through dozens of topics, mixing sharp incisive jokes, heartfelt storytelling and irreverent one-liners.
Fellow comedian Todd Glass praises Chantry, saying “I’m glad the world is about to see how funny Chip is. He’s a joke machine on and off stage. He’s always writing smart and well-crafted jokes and delivers them at a pace that keeps audiences on their toes, but in such a relatable way.”
“Electric OBrien has been a dream to work with and perfectly captured my style of comedy – silly and fun, but with an edge; like having a knife fight with a clown,” Chantry said.
Chantry has opened for headliners such as Dave Chappelle, Gary Gulman, Tig Notaro, Bob Saget, and Bert Kreischer. He has won a number of awards, including Helium Comedy Club’s “Philly’s Phunniest” tournament, 2024’s One Liner Madness contest, and being named “Best Stand Up Comedian” by Philadelphia Magazine in 2018.
“I’ve been a fan of Chip’s comedy for years and have seen him kill it with audiences all over the country. He’s an amazing talent and we’re excited to share his unique comedic voice with the world.” said Thomas O’Brien, Founder of Electric OBrien.
Chantry is a stand up comedian, television writer and actor. He has been called “The nicest guy in Philly”, which is kind of like being called “the friendliest mountain lion in the food court”; he may be a gentleman, but that doesn’t stop him from pouncing and tearing apart modern conventions and every-day absurdities. Chantry has written for “Crazy Talk,” a comedy/talk series for NBC Universal, the NatGeo series Howie Mandel’s “Animals Doing Things” and the syndicated series “Whacked Out Sports.” Chantry is a recurring guest on the “Doug Loves Movies” and “Todd Glass Show” Podcasts. In 2012, he released his first live comedy album, “Across From The Adonis.” His second album, “Swingers Party,” debuted at #1 on the iTunes Comedy Charts in March 2019.
