Code 8 Part 2″ picks up a while after the first film left off, but you can enjoy the story without seeing the previous film. In a world where some humans have superpowers, police introduce robotic dogs that stop criminals without causing harm. However, when Pav (played by Sirena Gulamgaus) witnesses her brother’s death at the hands of one of these dogs, she realises the police have been telling lies. Pav teams up with Connor Reed (portrayed by Robbie Amell), and they quickly become friends while Pav and Connor seek justice as the police are hunting them. As they delve deeper, they realize they need help, leading them to enlist the support of Garrett (played by Stephen Amell) to expose the truth and protect themselves from further harm.

The sequel has a tense story that puts you into the action shortly after the film starts. Having the film start with action made me invested and hooked on the story. The main three cast all give fantastic performances, Stephen and Robbie have great chemistry together. Sirena’s performance made you strive for this character to win, and she could also make you feel emotional and care about her character Pav. I enjoyed the introduction to the new robotic dogs in this film and it was another cool feature of this universe.

The new film suffers from what I felt had a lower budget than the first film, due to this it felt like they had more restrictions with action scenes. This time, fewer fights and powers are being used, if they had a bigger budget they could have improved on the action scenes. I also found how it explained a few plot points to be very confusing and felt rushed. Overall this film is easy to understand but due to brushing over a few things made me lose some of my enjoyment.

Code 8 part 2 is good, with a strong story and talented cast, if they had a bigger budget this film would have been amazing. I am excited to explore more of this universe in the future and hope we get a part three!
