Barbie and Oppenheimer lead the way by tying the nomination record for the Music City Film Critics’ Association’s 2024 Film Awards.

Barbenheimer fever carries over from last summer into the 2024 MCFCA Film Awards with each film securing 12 nominations.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – January 8, 2024 – The Music City Film Critics’ Association (MCFCA) is proud to announce its nominations for the MCFCA 2023 Film Awards. The association is comprised of more than 30 professional film critics working in or near Nashville, Tennessee.

The winners will be announced on January 15, 2024.

Barbie and Oppenheimer each secured 12 nominations in categories including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Supporting Actor, Best Screenplay, Best Production Design, and Best Editing. Both films join last year’s Everything Everywhere All At Once in receiving the most-ever nominations from the MCFCA.

Killers of the Flower Moon follows just behind with nine nominations, while The Holdovers and Poor Things each secured eight nominations. Rounding things out are two A24 films that each secured five nominations including nominations for Best Picture: Past Lives and The Iron Claw.

“In the year where Barbenheimer defined the film going experience, it’s only appropriate those two films should lead the way,” said Micheal Compton, Vice President of the MCFCA. “But these nominations also show the year was about more than those two films, with everything from The Holdovers and The Zone of Interest to M3GAN and Godzilla Minus One being recognized by the MCFCA.”
