Nashville, T.N. – DailyWire+ will premiere Episode 1 of its hotly anticipated 10-part true crime docuseries, Convicting a Murderer, September 8 on X, formerly Twitter. The series is hosted by Daily Wire firebrand Candace Owens and is directed by Shawn Rech. For 10 straight hours, every user in the U.S. who arrives on X will be invited to view the first episode, where it will stream beginning at 9 p.m. ET and remain on the X platform free on-demand indefinitely.

The digital premiere comes months after a viral public event involving DailyWire+ and X, then Twitter, when the company made similar plans to premiere its hit documentary, What is a Woman?, starring Matt Walsh. Daily Wire co-founder Jeremy Boreing revealed in a June 1 thread that X had canceled a deal with the company because of two instances of “misgendering” in the film. Elon Musk responded publicly to Boreing, stating the decision was “a mistake made by many people at Twitter,” and, in a further show of support, reposted the film from his personal account with the caption, “Every parent should watch this.” The movie went on to receive over 188 million views on X.

“We have had huge success and have even played a pioneering role in distributing our daily news and commentary shows and, of course, our documentary What is a Woman? on X,” said a Daily Wire spokesperson. “But we believe we’ve only scratched the surface of its potential. X is driving national conversations in a big way, and launching a series like Convicting a Murderer on X has huge potential to spark an international conversation that transcends the news and politics space.”

Convicting a Murderer unveils the shocking truth behind one of the most controversial criminal cases in recent history. Steven Avery’s case was popularized by the success of Making a Murderer, in which Steven Avery was portrayed as an innocent victim of corrupt law enforcement—but there’s more to the story than what viewers were shown. In Convicting,
Owens and team set the record straight in the murder of Teresa Halbach. The 10-episode true crime series takes a closer look at key evidence, unearths shocking new testimonies, and contains exclusive interviews with subjects not included in the Netflix show, including law enforcement officers, family members, and fans-turned-investigators whose lives have been profoundly impacted by the case.

I am sick and tired of media deception,” says Owens in the series. “I think that there are very few documentaries that inspired international outrage more than Making a Murderer. If the filmmakers were honestly trying to tell a complete story of what happened that day, why would they omit so many different things? I don’t think anyone can argue that Making a Murderer left us with a lot of questions and very few answers. How can they claim to care about the truth?”

The X event promises to resurface the passionate public debate that arose out of the popular series that centered around Steven Avery’s involvement in the murder of Teresa Halbach. Fans–including self-labeled “Truthers” and “Guilters”– can view Episode 1 of the new DailyWire+ series and witness and participate in live Twitter conversations between Owens and a surprise list of guests.

DailyWire+ will debut the first three episodes of the series on its platform on September 8 with the first two episodes streaming for free and the third episode available for DailyWire+ members. The remaining seven episodes will debut weekly on the subscriber-based streaming service every Thursday.
