Our friends at Betway compiled a list of the top ten actors who have the most On-Screen Deaths. This is one of the wildest lists I’ve ever seen, and I am happy to be able to share it with you.

10. Mark Hamill – 30 on-screen deaths

Coming in at number 10 is Mark Hamill. Best known for portraying Luke Skywalker in the original Star Wars trilogyHamill has featured in over 300 films and television shows, establishing himself as one of the most iconic faces in science-fiction cinema. 

30 of Hamill’s characters have met a grisly fate throughout his career, including Luke Skywalker in Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi (2017)Professor James Arnold in Kingsman: The Secret Service (2015), and The Joker in Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker (2000).

9. Bela Lugosi – 36 on-screen deaths

Next up is Bela Lugosi, who is best known for his role as Count Dracula in the 1931 film adaptation of Bram Stoker’s novel, in which he portrays the iconic vampire, who still manages to meet the unfortunate fate of an on-screen death – despite being undead.

Following this, Lugosi became a horror icon with most of his post-Dracula roles being in horror films, which led to an impressive 36 on-screen deaths, some of which include Roxor in Chandu The Magician (1932), Dr. Vitus Werdegast in The Black Cat (1934) and Ygor in Son of Frankenstein (1939) and Ghost of Frankenstein (1942).

8. Eric Roberts – 38 on-screen deaths

Eric Roberts is one of the most prolific actors of all time with 635 performances to his name, 38 of which had met the unlucky fate of being killed off.

Some of Roberts’ most notable on-screen deaths include Paul Snider in Star 80 (1983)Salvatore Maroni in The Dark Knight (2008), and ​​James Munroe in The Expendables (2010).

7. Lance Henriksen – 41 on-screen deaths

Lance Henriksen, well known for his powerful performances in copious sci-fi and action classicshas had a whopping 41 on-screen deaths out of 264 roles, making him one of Hollywood’s ‘most ‘killed’ actors.

Some of his most iconic on-screen deaths include Detective Hal Vukovich in The Terminator (1984), Lance Bishop in Alien 3 (1992), and John Milton in Scream 3 (2000).

6. Danny Trejo – 41 on-screen deaths

With over 400 performances and 41 on-screen deaths, there’s roughly a 10% chance Danny Trejo’s character will be killed off by the end of any movie he appears in.

Some of his most notable character deaths include Navajas in Desperado (1995), Gilbert Trejo in Heat (1995), and Tortuga in Breaking Bad (2009).   

5. Boris Karloff – 42 on-screen deaths

Known as the face of horror in the 30s and 40s, Boris Karloff has endured a staggering 42 character deaths throughout his career, which some might say is inevitable when you’re appearing as the monsters or tragic villains as often as Karloff was.

Fans witnessed Karloff’s characters killed off in iconic roles such as Frankenstein’s Monster in Frankenstein (1931), Im-Ho-Tep in The Mummy (1932), and Tom Gaffney in Scarface: The Shame of a Nation (1932).

4. John Hurt – 43 on-screen deaths

With 43 character deaths under his belt in over 200 film and TV appearances, John Hurt has been killed off in roughly 20% of his performances.

Most notably, the infamous Warrant Officer Gilbert Ward Kane in Alien (1979), as well as John Merrick in The Elephant Man (1980), and Gilliam in Snowpiercer (2013) all met the same unlucky fate.

3. Vincent Price – 48 on-screen deaths

Vincent Price is well known for his iconic performances in horror films, thanks to his distinctive voice and unique appearance. 

As we know by now, the horror genre takes no prisoners when it comes to killing off characters and Price is no exception. The actor has a tremendous 48 on-screen deaths to his name, for roles such as Nicholas Medina in The Pit and the Pendulum (1961), Prince Prospero in The Masque of the Red Death (1964), and The Inventor in Edward Scissorhands (1990).

2. Dennis Hopper – 48 on-screen deaths

Also experiencing a huge 48 character deaths throughout his career is Dennis Hopper, who is well known for his intense and often eccentric performances. 

Some of his most notable on-screen deaths include Billy in Easy Rider (1969) and Howard Payne in Speed (1994).

1. Christopher Lee – 70 on-screen deaths

Coming in at number one is Christopher Lee. With an unprecedented 70 character deaths, Lee is the most prolific actor in Hollywood history when it comes to on-screen deaths.

Lee is well known for portraying villains in horror movies, contributing to his impressive collective character death tally. Some of his most notable on-screen deaths include Count Dracula in Horror of Dracula (1958), Count Dooku in Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith (2005), and Saruman in The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King (2003).
