There are so many highly anticipated movies coming out this month. This June will be a fun month with something for everyone to enjoy!

June 2nd:
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is the sequel to the highly acclaimed 2017 film Spider-man: Into the Spider-Verse. The movie stars Shameik Moore, Hailee Steinfeld, Karan Soni, Oscar Isaac, Bryan Tyree Henry, Issa Rae, Rachel Dratch, Shea Whigham, Jason Schwartzman, and Daniel Kaluuya. It is directed by Joaquim Dos Santos, Kemp Powers, and Justin K. Thompson. It is written by Phil Lord, Christopher Miller, and David Callaham. It is a Sony Pictures release, and tickets are on sale now. The film will also be in IMAX.
The Boogeyman is the second 2023 release from writers Scott Beck and Bryan Woods after 65. The other screenwriters include Akela Cooper and Mark Heyman, and the director is Rob Savage. This film is based on a Stephen King short story of the same name. It stars Sophie Thatcher, Vivien Lyra Blair, Chris Messina, Marin Ireland, Madison Hu, LisaGay Hamilton, and David Dastmalchian. This is a 20th Century Studios release.
The long-awaited Sundance film festival movie Past Lives will be released in limited release this week. The film is written and directed by Celine Song and stars Greta Lee, Teo Yoo, John Magaro, Moon Seung-ah, Ji Hye Yoon, Won Young Choi, and Ahn Min-Young. This is an A24 release that will expand wide on June 23rd.
June 9th:

Transformers: Rise of the Beasts releases wide this weekend by Paramount Pictures. The film stars Anthony Ramos, Dominque Fishback, Tobe Nwigwe, Peter Cullen, Ron Perlman, Liza Koshy, Michelle Yeoh, and Peter Dinklage. It was written by Joby Harold, Darnell Metayer, Josh Peters, Erich Hoeber, and Joby Hoeber. This is the seventh Transformers film, though it is a spinoff similar to Bumblebee.
97 Minutes is the story about a hijacked 747 airplane that will is going to crash after they run out of fuel in 97 Minutes. It stars Jonathan Rhys-Meyers, MyAnna Buring, Jo Martin, Michael Sirow, Pavan Grover, and Alec Baldwin. The film is written by star Pavan Grover and directed by Timo Vuorensolam. It will be distributed by Vertical Entertainment in a limited release.
The Angry Black Girl and Her Monster was a SXSW release this year and will be in limited release this weekend. This RLJ production stars Laya Deleon Hayes, Denzel Whitaker, Chad L. Coleman, Reilly Brook Stith, Keith Holliday, Amani Summer, and Edem Atsu-Swanzy. It’s written and directed by Bomani J. Story.
June 16th:
The Flash movie is finally going to be released to the world on this date. It and It Chapter 2 director Andy Muschietti. Christina Hodson is the only credited screenwriter as of now. There is also Story By credit for Joby Harold (Transformers: Rise of the Beasts), John Francis Daley, and Jonathan Goldstein (Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves). The film stars Ezra Miller, Kiersey Clemons, Ray Fisher, Billy Crudup, Ron Livingston, Michael Shannon, Michael Keaton, and Ben Affleck. This is a Warner Bros. picture.
Elemental is Pixar Studios’ most recent release. It stars Leah Lewis, Mamoudou Athie, Shila Ommi, Wendi McLendon-Covey, Matthew Yang King, and Catherine O’Hara. It is written and directed by Peter Sohn, though Pixar staple Pete Doctor is on as a producer. It will be released by Walt Disney Pictures.
The Blackening is a satirical horror film that stars Grace Byers, Jermain Fowler, Melvin Gregg, X Mayo, Dewayen Perkins, Antoinette Robertson, Sinqua Wals, Yvonne Orhi, and Jay Pharaoh, It is directed by Tim Story and written by Dewayne Perkins and Tracy Oliver. It is a Lionsgate release that is going wide this weekend.
June 23rd:

Writer and director Wes Anderson is back with his next project Asteroid City. It has one of the most stacked casts this year. It includes Jason Schwartzman, Scarlett Johansson, Tom Hanks, Jeffrey Wright, Tilda Swinton, Bryan Cranston, Edward Norton, Adrien Brody, Liev Schrieber, Hope Davis, Stephen Park, Rupert Friend, and Maya Hawke. It is distributed by Focus Features.
Jennifer Lawrence is returning to theaters with the comedy film No Hard Feelings. It also stars Andrew Feldman, Laura Benanti, Natalie Morales, and Matthew Broderick. Gene Stupnitsky is the writer and director, and John Phillips also wrote the movie. This is a Sony Pictures release.
God is a Bullet is written and directed by Nick Cassavetes and is adapted from the book of the same name by Boston Teran. It stars Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Jami Foxx, January Jones, aika Monroe, Andrew Dice Clay, Karl Glusmna, and Paul Johansson. The film will be distributed by Wayward Entertainment.
Love Gets a Room (out on VOD 6/30) is inspired by a true story during the 1942 Nazi occupation of Warsaw, the film follows a group of Jewish stage actors as they put on Jerzy Jurandot’s musical comedy ‘Love Gets An Apartment’ (which was an actual play Jewish performers performed in Warsaw). Lead by an incredible performance by Clara Rugaard (I Am Mother) and Ferdia Walsh-Peelo (CODA), the film is a poignant exploration of the power of love, hope, and sacrifice in the face of unimaginable adversity.
June 30th:
Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny premiered at the Cannes Film Festival this year but will be released by Walt Disney Pictures at the end of June. Harrison Ford is back as Indiana Jones, and the supporting cast includes Phoebe Waller-Bridge, John Rhys-Davies, Boyd Holbrook, John Rhys Davies, and Mads Mikkelsen. The movie is directed by James Mangold and written by Jonathan Kasdan.
Ruby Gillman, Teenage Kraken is a new animated film from DreamWorks, though it will be distributed by Universal Pictures. It has a large cast that includes Lana Condor, Toni Collete, Annie Murphy, Sam Richardson, Liza Koshy, Will Forte, Colman Domingo, Jaboukie Young-White, Blue Chapman, Eduardo Franco, Ramona Young, Echo Kellum, Nicole Byer, and Jane Fonda. The film is written by Pam Brady and Kirk DeMicco, who is also the director.
Special Re-Releases:
Raiders of the Lost Ark is being released by Fathom Events on June 4th. It stars Harrison Ford, Karen Allen, Ted Grossman, Paul Freeman, Ronald Lacey, Denholm Elliot, and John Rhys-Davies. It was directed by Steven Spielberg and written by Lawrence Kasdan, with story credits from George Lucas and Philip Kaufman.
Hairspray (1988) is back in theaters on June 11th. It was written and directed by John Waters, and it stars Divine, Jerry Stiller, Josh Charles, Ricki Lake, Sonny Bono, Ruth Brown, Vitamin C, and Michael St. Gerard. It is also being released by Fathom Events.
Kiki’s Delivery Service is an anime film from 1989 that was written and directed by Hayao Miyazaki. Its English language cast includes Kirsten Dunst, Janeane Garofalo, Phil Hartman, Matthew Lawrence, Tress MacNeille, Edie McClurg, Jeff Bennett, Kath Soucie, Pamela Adlon, and Debbie Reynolds.

Flamin’ Hot premiers on Hulu on June 9th. It stars Jesse Garcia, Annie Gonzalez, Dennis Haysbert, and Tony Shalhoub. It is directed by Eva Longoria and written by Lewis Colick and Linda Yvette Chávez.
Jagged Mind stars Maise Richardson-Sellers and Shannon Woodward. It is directed by Kelly Kali and written by Allyson Morgan. It premiers on Hulu on June 15th.
Extraction 2 is the sequel to 2020’s Extraction starring Chris Hemsworth, Golshifteh Farahani, Adam Bessa, Daniel Bernhardt, Tinatin Dalaksihvili, and Olga Kurylenko. Both director Sam Hargrave and screenwriter Joe Russo have returned from the original film. It will be on Netflix on June 16th.
The Perfect Find will premiere on Netflix on June 23rd. It is directed by Numa Perrier and written by Leigh Davenport. The stars include Gabrielle Union, Kieth Powers, Aisha Kinds, D.B. Woodside, La La Anthony, and Gina Torres.
Nimona is a Netflix film that will be released on July 30th. It stars Chloë Grace Moretz, Riz Ahmed, Eugene Lee Yang, Frances Conroy, and Lorraine Toussaint. It is directed by Nick Bruno and Troy Quan and written by Robert L. Baird and Lloyd Taylor.
