Week 9 of the NFL Season begins in Baltimore, where the Ravens are reeling. While the rest of the division is over .500, the Ravens slipped back to 4-4 and lost Lamar Jackson, likely for the season. They lost Tyler Huntley, too.
That doesn’t seem promising as they host the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Jaguars are in a reverse situation, serving as the only winning team in the AFC South. The Jaguars seem set to cruise to a division title and have been solid on offense and defense. That doesn’t bode well for this matchup, but strange things happen on Thursday nights!
For the Jaguars, Trevor Lawrence has been solid. There is QB1 upside, but I like him as a QB2. The backfield is led by Bhayshul Tuten, who is an RB2 for me. In the passing game, the team has used a variety of weapons. The ones I like best are Parker Washington, a WR3 with some upside, and Brenton Strange, a TE2 with upside.
For the Ravens, the quarterback situation looks like it will be undrafted rookie Joe Fagano, who stepped up in Week 8. Huntley is doubtful, and while the Ravens added other quarterbacks it would make sense to start with the guy who has been there. I’m not interested in playing a Ravens’ passer, and it gives me pause when it comes to their passing weapons.
Zay Flowers has been dynamic, but this isn’t a great situation. He’s a low-end WR2 for me just because of his upside. Mark Andrews is a low-end TE2. I’m not considering any other pass catchers. In the backfield it’s Derrick Henry, who hasn’t been as dynamic with now passing game to balance the offense. He’s an RB2.
