This week we get the latest film from Steven Spielberg, Disclosure Day. The film stars, among others, Josh O’Connor, who has had a heck of a last few years. This week’s binge looks at his recent binge of starring roles. Films appear in chronological order.

Challengers (2024)
About: O’Connor was one of three leads of this film, and part of a love triangle that includes Zendaya and Mike Faist. This is a really well-made film and a good performance from O’Connor, who arguably has the more thankless role.

Rebuilding (2025)
About: A small drama that was part of a four-film output in 2025, this one finds O’Connor as a father and rancher from Colorado who is forced to find a way forward after a fire destroys his home. It’s a beautifully rendered small film that features a great performance from O’Connor.

The History of Sound (2025)
About: Another smaller piece, this one a historical drama that focuses on two men who carry on a secret affair over years, tied to their love of and talent with music. He stars opposite Paul Mescal in this one, and both do a great job in the lead roles.

The Mastermind (2025)
About: This one comes from director Kelly Reichardt, set in the 1970s and focused on a failed architect who tries to find a way forward as an art thief. Things go off the rails, but this is an interesting drama that again features a good lead performance from O’Connor.

Wake Up Dead Man (2025)
About: This was the most high-profile of his 2025 releases, the third film in Rian Johnson’s Knives Out franchise. He’s the focal point of this film and is quite compelling as the lead in this great ensemble mystery.
