TNF Preview, Week 10

Week 9 was a wild affair. We saw a number of heavily favored teams lay an egg, while other games had some wild finishes. Week 10 features several exciting matchups that could greatly impact the playoff picture. That’s not really the case with the Thursday Night game.

Tonight, the 6-2 Baltimore Ravens head to Miami to battle the 2-7 Dolphins. While this looked like a battle of playoff contenders in August, it looks like something else now. The Ravens are atop the AFC North and one of the best teams in the AFC. The Dolphins, meanwhile, have struggled mightily. They won opening day, lost seven straight, then squeaked out a win over the Texans in Week 9. While mathematically they have a pulse, it’s hard to imagine the Dolphins getting to 10 wins (the total they had in 2020) or making a playoff run.

Tua Tagovailoa should be back which helps. He was on a tear before missing Week 9. The Dolphins still have issues on offense and defense, none of which is apt to be improved by facing the Ravens on a short week. Lamar Jackson has been strong as a passer and a rusher as the Ravens have continued to look like a strong AFC Contender.

For tonight’s game, Jackson is a no-brainer start at QB no matter the format. Tua is a Superflex consideration for me. In the backfields, Myles Gaskin is getting volume if not always production. He’s a low-end RB2 for me, while Jaylen Waddle is a WR3 and Mike Gesicki is a Top 12 option at tight end. For the Ravens, I like Marquise Brown as a solid WR2 option and Mark Andrews as a TE1 option. The Ravens’ backfield is anyone’s guess, but Devonta Freeman and Le’Veon Bell looked flex-worthy last week. If Latavius Murray is out—and it’s trending that way—they could return the same value.

Week 9 was a surprising week all around. While that made it exciting watching the games play out, it was less exciting when considering my picks. I wasn’t great, and Lindsay struggled, too. Let’s see if Week 10 treats us a bit more kindly.
