My Thoughts on SOG Sports Best Quarterbacks Ever Hierarchy

I was casually scrolling through twitter and I stumbled across a tweet from my man Mello (Mic’d Up) and he had this Best Quarterback Ever Chart. I was looking at the list and about lost my cool. At first I thought I was going to have to go after Mello, but upon further review the list was not his. The list was done by one Riley Baines from SOG Sports.

Here is a picture of the chart.

I am truly not even sure where to start but I will start out with where they got it wrong.

The Bad:

Why is Terry Bradshaw on this list? We are talking about a guy that ended up with only 2 more touchdowns (212) than interceptions (210). Spare me the 4 Super Bowl rings conversation. The Steel Curtain is still one of the greatest defenses of all time.

Why is Troy Aikman on the list? Aikman threw over 20 touchdowns in a season ONCE in 12 seasons. Aikman benefited from the greatest offensive lines of all time, a Hall of Fame running back and Hall of Fame Wide Receiver. In the playoffs, he struggled as well with 23 touchdowns and 17 interceptions. Again spare me the rings talk.

Warren Moon on the bottom tier? NO WAY! He belongs AT LEAST on Tier 3, people forget that he threw for 49,325 yards, 291 touchdowns in his career. People will say what about the 233 interceptions and I will respond back did you watch the Oilers defense play? Me neither.

Russell Wilson on the bottom tier? Out of the 21 Quarterbacks on this list, he is easily in the top 10. He has accounted for over 34,000 total yards and 246 touchdowns. Wilson will go down as one of the most underrated QBs to ever play the game.

What did Steve Young ever do to get this disrespect? He is hands down one of the best mobile quarterbacks to ever play the game. He also took over for Montana when he left and never missed a beat. Led the league in touchdowns on 4 separate occasions, Led the league in Pass completions 5 different times and has 43 career rushing touchdowns.

Other issues of note:

Aaron Rodgers is one of the five greatest quarterbacks of all time, Tier 4? WOW.

Staubach was great and all but not Tier 3 great.

Drew Brees belongs in Tier 1, I would argue he belongs up there before Peyton does as well.

  1. I’m fine with Staubach. Best QB of the 70s and the definition of Mr Clutch. Starr for me is the overrated guy. Game manager on one of the best teams ever. Also, interceptions pre rule change in ’78 are not as important. There was no Dink and dunk West Coast offense. Replace Ben with Stabler imo
